Project #1 Pincushion

I am so sorry this video is so long.  I need to figure out either how to make my videos much short when I'm shooting or I need to find a program that will allow me to edit the video to cut down on the unnecessary moments.  If you have any ideas let me know.

Picture tutorials to help:  The Running Stitch is the most common stitch you will use when hand sewing.  With the Ladder Stitch you will be able to complete a lot of projects in a professional looking way.

If you would like me to post a picture of your pincushion or any project that you have completed feel free to email me the picture and I will add it to the blog.

Pincushion Preparation

After going through the supply list you now know you need a pincushion.  Why buy one when we can make one?  I have found a pattern online that is free and easy.  It is for a wrist pincushion.  Are you ready?  Lets do it!  Here is the link.

You will need:
  • 14"x5" piece of fabric
  • 1 1/2" piece of Velcro that is 1" wide
  • poly-fill stuffing
  • matching thread
  • a fabric marker (Not included in kit or needed to make the project)
I will make a video of me making mine so you can see every step.  I picked this to be our first project because everyone needs a pincushion, you can sew it by hand if you don't have a sewing machine, and it is easy.   If you don't have the supplies needed to complete this project and, wont be able to get them within the next week, let me know and I can send you a little kit with everything you will need except for the fabric marker (you can make it without the marker.)  Please know I am only offering this because the blog is still new and I don't have to many followers yet.  Please comment below if you need a kit to complete this project by Friday November 18th so I can send all kits out by Saturday.

What would you like to talk about?

I plan on making a new video post every week.  Then hopefully there are enough comments from that video to keep us learning and sewing all week until a new video is posted.  I am always open to suggestion and comments.  I want this to be as user friendly as possible for everyone.  So far some suggestions for videos:
* How to measure fabric
*How to read patterns
*How to cut out your fabric
*What fabric to use/difference in fabric
*How to make a hem
*How to stuff projects
* Sewing machine 101 video series
*What are the parts and functions on a sewing machine
   *Troubleshooting
   *Cleaning your machine
*Beginner projects
*Patterns I've made
Please comment with anything you would like to see a video on or anything you are currently needing help with.

Welcome (posted in bumbuggy)

I added this video because this is what was the inspiration for this blog
